Next year there is a new format of disc coming out called a "TERRA-BITE" disc that will be able to hold about 25 movies on 1 disc

Oh yeah, I think I heard about that.  Won't be able to play them on a blue-ray player?  Because that could change the equation for sure.

There is no more foul and relentless enemy of man in the occult world than this dead-alive creature spewed up from the grave!

Re: Do you think Blu-ray will survive?

Replying to a few different people here. Well one plus is Blu Ray plays regular dvds' as well so even if it did fold it's not a total loss. I don't see Blu Ray folding nor do I see them crushing regular dvds' anytime soon. Blu Ray discs are still fairly expensive but as some have pointed out there are some instances now usually for big sellers where it's only the difference of maybe five bucks or less. The shitty economy affects everything of course, hence why I do not think Blu-Ray is going to make dvd obsolete anytime soon. I own roughly five thousand dvds' and a few dozen or so Blu-Ray's. I'm not going to say spend thirty-thirty five bucks on Sweeney Todd when I have it on dvd but if I found a good buy, even used I'd do it.

As for it only being safe guaranteed sellers available on Blu-Ray generally speaking your right however I know Blue Underground is putting Stendhal Syndrome, Bird With The Crystal Plumage, and Dead and Buried on Blu-Ray.....not widely known mainstream titles outside my fellow fans in the horror community. And Hell Jesus Christ Vampire slayer is available on Blu-Ray..............So I think companies are testing the waters. Some good buys BTW Evil Dead 2 and the original Dawn and Day Of The Dead are only 12.99 on Blu-Ray at least on Amazon.

I won't be selling off my dvd's nor will I buy everything on Blu-Ray unless the price is right.....plain and simple. Both will be around and survive for several years to come. I feel pronouncing either dead is silly right now.

Hey fellow actors and Horror Fans my name is Dan and it'd be my absolute pleasure to interact with you guys and shoot the shit on all the happenings in the horror world. I'm about as dedicated as they come and own over five thousand dvds' in my library primarily in the horror genre I'm on myspace to

I remember reading a few years back that we would have 3D discs around 2010 - so maybe it's the same thing with a different name, as that could hold around the same amount of stuff.

That is why I haven't bothered with Blu-Ray.

I've been saying for a few years that the disc format is going to be dead soon anyway - as technology improves we will be buying our movies on swipecards that will just be swiped down the side of our tv set.

Betcha I'm right.......

You must die.

Re: Do you think Blu-ray will survive?

Blu Ray should survive as long as it doesn't make the mistakes that Laser Disc did. So far Blu Ray hasn't been doing too bad. I'm not getting one anytime soon and see no reason to do so. The majority of the films I like r available on DVD and I already have enough money invested in this format to make starting over really stupid. A friend of mine has a PS3 so he's buying a Blu Ray from time to time (2-3 a month).

Re: Do you think Blu-ray will survive?

I don't see Blu-ray surviving. The differences are not that noticable to the average film buyer, so I don't see people dumping their collections to switch to this. Especially after spending time and money converting their old VHS collections. Also, the selection will again be limited, just as DVDs were for so long. Only now is that format starting to pick up all those little films they thought the public had no interest in. About the only format I'd be interested in is some kind of virtual reality that puts you right in the film. Doubt that will happen anytime soon.

Re: Do you think Blu-ray will survive?

I'm suprised they haven't come up with something a little more resilient.  Just a little thicker and they could put a 3.5" style floppy cartridge around them to keep them from harm... It just makes more sense, and I don't see why never became a standard.

Koo!

Re: Do you think Blu-ray will survive?

Aside from the outstanding, pristine picture and sound quality...I'm pretty much on the fence about Blu-Ray.

I'd probably be more open towards giving it a chance if the movies, themselves, weren't so damn expensive!  Angry

I am the Whistler and I know many things, for I walk by night. I know many strange tales hidden in the hearts of men and women who have stepped into the shadows. Yes, I know the nameless terrors of which they dare not speak!
