Burn After Reading

Incredibly funny film! Any one enjoy?
My favorite part is when Bradd Pitts on the phone with John Malchovich (sp) and he's trying to act really seriouse and ends up saying "Osbourne Cox? I thought you might be worried... about the security... of your shit. "

What's really funny about thebeyond105's response is that it is the typical hide behind the keyboard reply that comes from losers that got nothing going for them and don't get out that much.

Good movie. Not at all what I expected from the promos. I liked it though. It had a lot of unexpected twists & turns. Definitely a good year for the Coen brothers.

Re: Burn After Reading

I missed the initial release. This one looks like it will be just as good on DVD.

Re: Burn After Reading

The Coens can be hit and miss, but I'd still watch their duds over other director's duds.

Re: Burn After Reading

The Coens can be hit and miss,

Yeah and it seems their most popular films are my least fav of theirs (specifically Arizona & Fargo). I really liked Blood Simple, and No Country I think bears some tonal similarities. Big Lebowski I'm middle of the road on. I liked that B.A.R. wasn't what it looked like in the preview. And even though I thought it only had a few laugh out loud moments, I really enjoyed the story and the crazy twists and turns.

I'm probably in the minority, but I loved BARTON FINK - a creepy, funny, mindfu** that won several awards in
Cannes that year..

So did I.  I've only seen it once though, so maybe if I saw it again, I'd see something the second time around.  Really great films are sometimes like that.

Re: Burn After Reading

Javier Bardem was a total badass, though.  I will give it that.

Re: Burn After Reading

this film makes u think where Brad Pitt is hiding his fountin of youth. that guy looks younger than he ever has in this film.

Mmm, I don't know - I think it was the acting and the hair. If you see him in some other things, he looks every
day of his 44, 45 years..

It followed the book exactly.

The ending was the Sheriff retiring.  The entire movie is about the sheriff and how he is unable to cope with how much the world has changed. It's a story about aging and losing touch with society as it moves on. The bag of money and Javier Bardem's pursuit of Josh Brolin is incidental.

Never give a sucker an even break
