Curse(Night) of the Demon

Clever, well-acted, atmospheric, and that Fire Demon puts much of today's CGI to shame. I am watching it as I type and it still scares me. One of the benefits of old age - don't need blood, gore, or gratuitous titillation to thoroughly enjoy a horror movie!  laugh

Thankfully, I didn't watch this before my daughter and I visited Stonehedge last summer...

Now isn't that scary! LOL

The Man Who Fell to Earth with David Bowie as a space alien who crash lands on Earth.  Very interesting 60's film. Rip Torn also has a nude scene.  It doesn't get much scarier than that.

Phantasm is another one that might be considered overlooked.

My Bloody Valentine.  Prototype 80's slasher film.  Never received the appreciation it deserved.

Oxford Student: "Pardon me but haven't you come to the wrong college ?"
Ollie: "Well, this is Oxford isn't it ?"
Oxford Student: "Yes but you're dressed for Eton."
Stan: "Well, that's swell, we haven't eaten since breakfast."

Dark Night of the Scarecrow - Heck, it didn't even get released on DVD yet, though it's finally on it's way

Night of the Creeps - This one STILL does not have a DVD release date.

Alice Sweet Alice

Children of the Corn - It's seemed to have slowed down in the past years as a movie people like.I know in the 80's it was popular.

Re: Most Overlooked Classic

I know it's difficult to see this one, but I'll throw out Island Of Lost Souls (1932). First adaptation of H.G. Wells' "Island of Dr. Moreau". Torture, bestiality, wanton violence, Charles Laughton as Moreau, Bela Lugosi as the Sayer Of The Law...
Along with Mamoulian's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, this was one of the banned horror films from the 1930's. It is dated, but also very forward-thinking and graphic for the time. Truly and unfortunately overlooked.

LA BELLE ET LA BETTE (1946) written & directed by Jean Cocteau.

There is a ton of creepy-ass imagery in this hauntingly beautiful film.

Yes, fantastic movie and I'm glad somebody out there still appreciates it. A milestone in surrealism. I will never sully the memory of this movie by watching the Disney cartoon.
