One of the most intriguing entries the third annual After Dark Horrorfest, running January 9-15 at theaters nationwide, looks to be PERKINS’ 14. The nature of its inception—it was born out of an on-line competition in which horror fans submitted their own pitches, voted for cast members and even designed the poster—has made the film eagerly anticipated by the fear community.
Those who attend the 6 p.m. screening this Sunday, January 11 at New York City’s AMC Loews Village 7 (66 3rd Avenue at 11th Street) will get a chance to meet the cast and one of the creators in person. An autograph signing accompanying this show will feature director Craig Singer (helmer of the first Horrorfest’s DARK RIDE) and actors Michale Graves, Mihaela Milhut, Gregory O’Connor, Patrick O’Kane, C.J. Singer and Torri Singer. In addition to this and the other previously scheduled showtimes, Singer let us know that an additional screening of PERKINS’ 14 will take place at the Village 7 this Saturday, Jan. 10 at 11:45 a.m.PERKINS’ 14, scripted by Lane Shadgett from the concept by Jeremy Donaldson, centers on detective Dwayne Hopper, whose son Kyle was abducted 10 years prior by the titular character, along with 13 other victims. Hopper finds the man responsible and extract revenge; the 14 who disappeared are still alive, however, and after a decade of brainwashing torture, they’re now murderous psychopaths ready to avenge their fallen father figure.
